Bring your Filmow.
All of it.
Not affiliated with Filmow. It runs in your browser and sends nothing to any server.
Filmow does not have an export button. This guide shows how to generate a file with your history — titles, ratings, favorites, watchlist, series, seasons and dates — and bring it here.
What you will bring
- Movies and shorts you watched, with your rating.
- Series and seasons, with watched episodes marked.
- Favorites, which Letterboxd cannot import.
- Your watchlist.
- Dates from your activity history, when available.
Before you start
Not official. This is a community tool, not affiliated with Filmow or Letterboxd.
Nothing is uploaded anywhere. The code runs in your browser, talks only to filmow.com and saves the files on your computer. You can read the full code before using it:
The dates are when you recorded something on Filmow, not necessarily when you watched it. If you logged it as you watched it, the dates match; if you marked 300 films at once in 2019, they will all show 2019.
Step by step
- Use a computer with Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Opera. It does not work well on a phone.
- Go to filmow.com and sign in. Sign-in is needed for dates and private profiles; titles, ratings and favorites are available either way.
- Open the code above, read it and copy it. With Filmow open and you signed in, press F12 (or right-click and choose Inspect), open the Console tab, paste everything and press Enter.
Your browser may warn you about pasting code: type
allow pastingand press Enter. If that command returns a syntax error, ignore it — the warning was already not blocking anything, so you can paste the script directly. - Keep the tab open. Depending on the size of your history, it takes 5 to 20 minutes. You can cancel at any time using the panel button.
- At the end, the files download automatically. For Mooview, use
mooview-tudo. If the browser asks whether it may download multiple files, allow it.
The file
You will receive mooview-tudo-*.csv: it is the only file you need. It carries everything at once — movies, shorts, series, seasons, ratings, favorites, watchlist and dates.
If you also use Letterboxd, two files for Letterboxd are downloaded as well (letterboxd-filmes-assistidos-*.csv and letterboxd-filmes-quero-ver-*.csv). They exist because Letterboxd treats series like similarly named films and can match them incorrectly, so they contain only movies and shorts. Ignore both for Mooview.
Import here
Go to the import page and upload the file. High-confidence matches go straight into your library; uncertain ones wait in a queue for you to confirm later.
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to paste this?
The code does not send anything to any server: it reads pages from Filmow, builds the files and saves them on your computer. You can open it in a text editor and read it. The rule always applies: only run code from a source you trust.
I saw “allow pasting” with a syntax error.
It is harmless. allow pasting is not code: it is a phrase the browser intercepts when its anti-paste warning is active. If it reported a syntax error, the warning was already not blocking anything — paste the script directly and continue.
Where is the code I paste into the console?
Open the “View and copy the code” button on this page, read the full contents and copy it to the browser Console. You do not need to find a repository or download a separate file.
No dates came through.
Dates come from your Filmow activity history, which Filmow only provides when you are signed in. Sign in and run it again. The final message explains the reason, and the console shows the full diagnostic.
It found zero titles.
Check that the username is correct and the profile is public. Private profiles require you to be signed in.
It stopped and said Filmow asked me to slow down.
Filmow limits too many visits in a row. The tool waits and retries automatically. If it keeps happening, cancel, wait about 15 minutes and run it again — everything already downloaded remains valid.
Do series work?
Yes. Each season comes in as a season connected to its series, with watched episodes marked — not as a strangely named movie.
Can I delete the script afterward?
Yes. It installs nothing and does not remain in your browser. Closing the tab ends everything.
